Tides of Anacortes:

Advertising and Merchandising / Social Media

During this Internship, I had the opportunity to complete visual table displays, merchandise the sales floor, and restyle mannequins weekly. The boutique was always getting shipments of new items, so reworking displays and rotating the merchandise around the floor was a prominent task during the internship. I was also able to help receiving and price the new merchandise as they came in. Content creation for the boutiques social media platforms was another big task of mine. I helped post on Instagram and Facebook stories, as well create flat lays, model, and style outfits for pictures. I learned a lot about how the different platforms respond to different types of posts, as well as how to increase activity with followers. I also created an ad campaign for Tides's 5th Anniversary Sale that were featured in Bellingham Alive as well as the cover of the Anacortes Clam Digger. I had also created ad campaigns for two separate giveaways, as well as  a promotional business card and table tents for the boutiques social media platforms.

Red Salon:

Buying & Merchandising Assistant / Social Media

During this Internship, I had the opportunity to work on product visual displays, merchandising, inventory, placing product orders, sales, and creating content for the salon's social media accounts. I had a wonderful experience and learned a lot of different techniques for making visually appealing product displays. Red Salon is an Aveda Concept salon that carries both Aveda and Oribe products. I created displays, merchandised, and promoted both brands in the salon. I also made informational posts about the products on the salon's social media accounts to advertise and inform clients/customers of new products. I had the opportunity to learn about product inventory, placing product orders, and inputting merchandise in the salon's POS system. This was an amazing experience and I learned a lot about what it takes to run a small business, how to create connections with customers, and what makes visual displays successful.
