Student Fashion Association
The Student Fashion Association (SFA) is a club at Central Washington University that allows students with a passion for fashion to connect with other students and share some unique experiences. SFA goes on a field experience every year during winter quarter and tours different companies’ headquarters and showrooms in one of three different fashion districts, New York, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. During these trips students get a chance to network and gain knowledge about the industry in general as well as see what kind of jobs and internships are offered. During club meetings, members are able to learn about the different aspects of the fashion industry, connect with peers, network with professionals, take part in fashion related activities, and give back to the community. Members of SFA are also able to gain leadership experience and network with professionals in Skype interview meetings.

Volunteer/Community Service
Kittitas Breastfeeding Collation:
All the members in SFA get together and make reusable heating pads made of fabric and rice and donate them to Kittitas Breastfeeding Collation. We form an assembly line to make production easier. Several people start us out by cutting the fabric pattern, next people pin and sew a pouch, next the pouch is turned inside out and filled with rice, and finally it is given to another set of sewers and sewn shut.
Boo Central:
SFA participates and volunteers at Boo Central, where local families can bring their kids to campus on Halloween and have a night full of fun. All the clubs on campus gather in the Student Union ballroom and set up game booths for all the kids to play. Everyone is in costume and it is a whole lot of fun!

SFA Fundraisers
SFA participate in Ware Fare every year where we sell handmade goods on campus in the Student Union along with other booths. One year we made baby dribble bibs and pacifier clips to sell and help fundraise for the field experience trip. Another year we made reusable shopping bags to sell for the fundraiser. Over the course of a couple meetings, the members of the club get together and form an assembly line to make the bibs, pacifier clips, and reusable shopping bags by hand. We also sell these handmade goods at the local craft fair in the elementary school.
SFA opens a Pop-up Thrift Boutique once during fall quarter and once during spring quarter to help members of the club fundraise for the field experience. This fundraiser is an individual fundraiser where members sell their new and gently used clothing at an affordable price. Each member prices and sells their own clothing, accessories, and shoes and whatever they make goes toward funding their trip. Both local families and students come to the shop and purchase items at a good price as well as gain some insight on upcoming trends and styling advice from the members of the fashion club!
